Dhamma Birata, Purwanchal Vipassana Center

The center was registered in April 2000, after the land was donated by an old student in 1999 on the occasion of centenary year of sayagi U Ba Khin. Ten Day Vipassana courses began at the centre from 2002. In addition the center is running 6 children courses, 12 one day courses 2 three day courses 1 satipatthana course, 1-10 day special course and 1- 20 day course every year. The center has the following infrastructures.

  • Meditation Hall with a capacity for 60 persons
  • Teacher's residences for 1 male teacher and 1 female teacher
  • Male residence for 25 persons
  • Female residence for 20 persons
  • Dining halls for both the male and female students.
  • Mini-Dhamma hall for 20 persons
  • Kitchen, guest room, caretaker's room, store room, cook's residence and office complex near the gate
  • Meditation cells for 10 male students and 10 female students.
  • Compound wall.
  • 350m Graveled access road.

A master plan of the center had been developed. Progressively Dhamma Hall, dormitories for male and female students some single residences as well as the other facilities as mentioned above had been developed and remaining components are in the process of development through Dana collection from generous old students.
